Hi, I’m Faith! I’m originally from Elmwood Park, Illinois, a small neighborhood of Chicago. I was adopted at infancy and grew up in a loving family of 4: my mom (Joanne), dad (Mitch), older brother (Jeff), and me (Faith!). I went to an all girls, Catholic high school. Here I was empowered to dream big and believe that women can do absolutely anything – a belief I still hold dear to my heart. It is also where I met one of my still best friends, Alyssa who I hold equally as dear! Believe it or not, I actually still have best friends from grade school too! My three best friends Kristen, Annie, and Antoniette are all girls I’ve known since kindergarten! After high school I went to Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

It was at Marquette that I participated in Naval ROTC and made two of my other best friends, Kaitlyn and Erik. We got each other through some pretty hard times in college as well as some pretty crazy nights! After graduating with a BA in International Affairs and a commission in the US Navy as an Officer and soon-to-be Navy pilot, I moved to Pensacola, Florida to start flight school.

While in Pensacola, I met some amazing people and rescued my soul mate…my one-eyed, loveable pup, Cash (named after the late, great Johnny – of course)! He quickly became my constant companion and source of comfort. Unfortunately, some life changes and traumas made me realize that being in the flight program was not for me. I left aviation and much to my dismay, I ended up being a SWO (Surface Warfare Officer). The last thing I wanted was to be on a ship and that’s exactly where I ended up. After some schooling to learn ship driving in Virginia, I moved to San Diego, California where I would be stationed for the next two years. I was sent to a destroyer and deployed for about 9 months in 2021-2022. This deployment changed my life.

Fate has a funny way of making you look at everything differently. As much as I detested being on a ship and having to deploy, it was on this deployment that I fell in love… with a woman. I tend to fall in love hard and fast, but this was the first time it had ever been with a female. As you could imagine, this turned my world upside down, but also enabled me to discover parts of myself I had never realized. I finally felt whole. I finally felt seen. I truly believe that I had never known unconditional love and compassion until I found the woman who would become my wife.

We realized that we could not go on in life without each other now that we had seen what love could be. The second our feet hit land after 9 long months at sea, we ‘U-hauled’ in together. We traveled the country (usually sleeping in our car) and did everything we could dream of, from music festivals to sky diving and everything in between. We eventually decided our time in San Diego had come to an end. We packed our bags, Cash, Cash’s bags, and headed all the way to the other side of the country…Asheville, North Carolina!

Now here we are, starting our new life together in Asheville, out of the Navy, and ready to take on the world and enjoy every moment – slowly and fully. So sit down, pour yourself a cup of tea and join us on our adventures. Eat with us – laugh with us – travel with us!

And as the Minister of Leaves once said, “Enjoy life sip by sip, not gulp by gulp.”
